Here is a bumper newsletter to end the year - lots of LAMS V2 news, followup on the LAMS Conference, and more. Sorry for the newsletter delay over the past 2 weeks, I've been flat out since the LAMS Conference. I'm now on leave for the next few weeks - the newsletter will start again in late January. My great thanks to everyone who has contributed to LAMS during 2006, especially Fiona and Ernie for leading the awesome work on LAMS V2. Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. James

LAMS Conference followup - presentations and audio
The LAMS Conference was fantastic, and we managed to record most of the sessions as well as get the accompanying slides. So for those of you who couldn't make it, you can relive most of the presentations - see the links at
http://lamsfoundation.org/lams2006/program.htm

For presentations from the technical stream, see
http://lamscommunity.org/dotlrn/clubs/technicalcommunity/forums/message-view?message_id=345801

And don't forget to check out the podcast site, which will include additional interviews with LAMS conference presenters as Allan gets them up - see

Proposed LAMS Conference in UK - July 5th
There was great interest in having a LAMS conference in Europe in the middle of 2007, and Simon Walker from the University of Greenwich in London has kindly offered to help host this - many thanks Simon! The tentative date is July 5th, and in addition to a wide range of LAMS presentations, there will also be more about RAMS. More details in the new year.

*** LAMS V2 out ***
LAMS Version 2 is now officially out - for all the details and a very long list of thank yous, see
http://lamscommunity.org/dotlrn/clubs/technicalcommunity/forums/message-view?message%5fid=342091

There is a revised version of the Teacher's Guide to cover V2 - see
http://lamscommunity.org/2.0/guides/TeachersGuidev2.0.pdf

And for all the technical documentation about LAMS V2, see
http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lamsdocs/Home

Please post any feedback, problems, compliments, etc to the LAMS Community.

NB: We are not providing support for any of the beta versions of LAMS prior to the Dec 6th full V2 release, so we recommend you upgrade to the full version soon.

LAMS V2 Language packs
One of the great new features of LAMS V2 is support for languages other than English. We now have language packs that can easily be installed into your V2 server. For details about Language Packs, see

LAMS V2 Installfest in Sydney in early 2007
Anthony Sukkar from the LAMS team is organising an "installfest" for LAMS V2 - basically this is a day when you can come along to meet the LAMS team, and get assistance with LAMS V2 installation. It will be held at Macquarie University in Sydney in early 2007 (probably in February) - for more details, and to discuss the best date for this, see
http://www.lamscommunity.org/dotlrn/clubs/technicalcommunity/forums/message-view?message%5fid=345413

LAMS Community now support LAMS V2 sequences
Thanks to Ernie for updating the LAMS Community so that you can now upload LAMS V2 (as well as V1) sequences. There is also a new field on the sequence details page that tells you the relevant LAMS version for this sequence. You can also tell the difference between V1 and V2 sequences via the file extension - V1 have the extension ".las" whereas V2 are ".zip").

If you'd like to download and try a LAMS V2 sequence (which includes embedded audio and video), see
http://lamscommunity.org/lamscentral/sequence?seq%5fid=345048

LAMS V2 Moodle Integration - beta released
There is now a *beta* version of the Moodle integration for LAMS V2 (this is different from the V1 integration). For those with technical experience who would like to test this (NB: there may still be some bugs!), see
http://www.lamscommunity.org/dotlrn/clubs/technicalcommunity/forums/message-view?message%5fid=347572
