Using Mathematical Symbols with LAMS

For those who work with mathematical symbols, there is now a way to use them with LAMS. The instructions for setting up LAMS to do this are a little technical, but from past experience this doesn't normally faze those who work in this area!

In summary, once you've uploaded a library called jsMath, you can then incorporate symbols into the HTML Noticeboard tool. Full details can be found at http://www.lamscommunity.org/dotlrn/clubs/technicalcommunity/forums/message-view?message%5fid=221746

Thanks to Jun-Dir Liew from LAMS for working this out, and to Davide Cervone from the Department of Mathematics at Union College, New York, for making jsMath available.

Invitation for LAMS Conference Reviewers

As mentioned in past newsletters, the first International LAMS Conference is in Sydney in December 2006 - more details at http://lamsfoundation.org/lams2006/

We are putting together the panel of reviewers for paper and presentation proposals for this conference - if you'd like to assist us with this role and have relevant expertise, please email me (james@melcoe.mq.edu.au). The task will involve blind peer review of a number of papers, and reviewing presentations based on abstracts. Thanks in advance to all those who can assist with this!
