New Import/Export Animation

Back in Newsletter 15, I described the LAMS sequence import and export process, including how to take a LAMS sequence from the LAMS Community and import it into your LAMS account.

Now Karen has created two extra animations ("Winks") to show a live version of these steps. You'll find them (together with lots of other animations of LAMS features) at http://lamsinternational.com/documents/1.0/winks/

LAMS Educational Support now up and running

As mentioned last week, we are now providing a live session once a week for LAMS educational support via the LAMS Community. Each week from 4-5pm Sydney time, one of the LAMS educational team will be available online (within this Community as well as Skype and IM) for any questions you have on the educational side of LAMS. We've set up a new discussion area within the Getting Started community for this - see http://www.lamscommunity.org/dotlrn/clubs/educationalcommunity/gettingstarted/forums/forum-view?forum_id=159853

LAMS at Blackboard World 2006

Jonathan Clare from LAMS International was at the Blackboard World conference in San Diego this past week. There has been major recent interest in LAMS both from Blackboard (the Chairman of Blackboard Matthew Pittinsky has been a fan of LAMS ever since he saw an early demo back in 2003!) and from many Blackboard users since the release of the LAMS Blackboard Building Block integration in early 2006. For more details on integrating LAMS with Blackboard, see http://lamsfoundation.org/integration/blackboard6/

Upcoming UK conferences - online in March and in person in April

I'll be involved in two upcoming UK conferences over the coming months. In March I'm co-presenting with Patrick McAndrew from the Open University on "Can Learning Design help us share designs?" for the Online JISC E-Learning Conference. You can find more details at http://www.jisc.ac.uk/index.cfm?name=elp_conference06_programme

In April, I'll be visiting the UK briefly for the OSS Watch conference on Sustainability and Open Source Software at Oxford University (April 10-12th), where I'm giving a general keynote, as well as a session on LAMS as open source software. For more details, see http://www.oss-watch.ac.uk/events/2006-04-10-12/programme.xml
