2010 European LAMS Conference - Call for Presentations/Papers

I'm pleased to confirm that the 2010 European LAMS and Learning Design conference will be held at Wolfson College, Oxford, UK on the 15th July. As in 2009, it will be followed by a Design Bash co-hosted by CETIS. My thanks to JISC and Oxford University for their support.

The focus of 2010 European Conference is "Sharing Great Ideas". We will look at technologies, applications and approaches that support sharing, collaboration and open access to knowledge and resources.

The call for presentations and/or papers is now open. Submissions are due by Friday, March 26th - see

New 2010 LAMS and Learning Design CALL for papers to be announced shortly

Chris Alexander is organising a new publication for 2010. One important aim of this open-access, synchronous publication will be to draw attention to the range of important issues currently encompassed in LAMS and Learning Design research. Another aim is to emphasise to a wider community in a united way the need to engage in these issues; this in turn could hopefully help us to understand them better. More details in the next newsletter.

Graphing Equations in LAMS

Ernie Ghiglione has recently added a sequence to the LAMS Community that illustrates the use of the "GeoGebra" equation graphing tool for mathematics and related topics - see

Thanks to Edoardo Montefusco for drawing our attention to this great tool!

Proposed Changes to Authoring for LAMS 2.4

We're looking at redeveloping the LAMS Authoring interface for a future release using Adobe's "Flex" (a new approach to developing Flash applications). The general concept and appearance will remain similar, but it will allow greater flexibility for appearance, and may allow us to add new visualisation approaches in the future.
