LAMS rollout to all schools in Northern Territory, Australia

The Northern Territory Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) has launched the rollout of Macquarie University's LAMS software to all DEET schools. LAMS will be used to improve learning through greater student collaboration and engagement, together with interactive whiteboards.

"We're delighted to be rolling out LAMS to all NT schools," said Jenny Buckworth, Manager of Online Services, DEET. "We expect LAMS to greatly assist student learning, particularly through collaborative activities. We're also excited about the ability for teachers to share their LAMS lesson plans with other teachers to foster a community of sharing good practice," she said.

For more details, see http://www.pr.mq.edu.au/events/index.asp?ItemID=3175
Jenny will be presenting at the 2nd International LAMS Conference.

New LMS integrations for LAMS V2

LAMS V2 is already integrated with Moodle and Sakai. We're pleased to announce the release of LAMS integrations for Blackboard V7.1+ and .LRN V2.3+. Also, LAMS integration with WebCT CE6/Vista is being finalised now and will be out by the end of 2007. For details of all LAMS LMS integrations, see
http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lams/Integrations

LAMS International (the services and support company for LAMS) has recently announced new LMS integration and hosting/support packages for LAMS with Blackboard/WebCT - see http://www.lamsinternational.com/product/bbhosting.html

Using Shibboleth to create "Joint Classes" in LAMS

We've recently integrated LAMS with the Shibboleth Trust Federation software to allow teachers to easily create "Joint Classes" across multiple LAMS servers (even in different countries!). This work has been supported by the New Zealand Ministry of Education, and will be demonstrated at the IMS Conference in Queenstown, NZ, 7th November, 2007. For an animated walkthrough of how the new Joint Classes feature works, see
http://saturn.melcoe.mq.edu.au/lams2/docs/winks/shib1.htm

The first "real-world" implementations of Joint Classes are planned for the first half of 2008, so please email me if you would be interested in participating.

New Languages for LAMS

LAMS V2 currently supports 25 languages, including two new languages - Japanese and Malay. For details of all languages, see
http://lamscommunity.org/i18n/

As always, a huge thank you to all our translators for their excellent work, and a big welcome to the new Japanese and Malay translators!

LAMS V2.1 update

We've been working *very* hard on the new branching features for LAMS V2.1. We'll be demonstrating these at the upcoming LAMS Conference, and we plan to release a beta version of V2.1 at this time for those who want to explore it and help us test it. The production version of V2.1 will be released early next year (after we complete testing).
